Life-changing funds to help boost mental health

A generous stream of charitable giving has seen the prestigious 2017 Mayor’s Charity Ball raise nearly $64,000 for mental health initiatives in Isaac.

The aim of the event, hosted by the Isaac Regional Charity Fund, was to place mental health as the main conversational piece on the table.

Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker, who is the fund director, said the support from communities and those who attended the October 21 event was phenomenal.

“This is what makes Isaac, Isaac – we come together and we rally to support one another through thick and thin,” Mayor Baker said.

“We are about tearing the stigma around mental health in our communities.

“From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who donated to this worthy cause.

“You’ve made a real difference in bringing this vital conversation to light and this money will be for local mental health programs used by our local people.

“A huge congratulations to everyone – and thank you again to our generous sponsors, volunteers, attendees, organisations, community groups and charities to help raise funds and awareness of these issues.

“Working with you all has been some of the most rewarding experiences of my life.”

More than 250 guests attended the Moranbah Community Centre event on Saturday, October 21.

The event, in its fourth year, has been championed by Mayor Baker.

The Isaac Regional Charity Fund is a deductible gift recipient, which means it can receive tax-deductible gifts.
