Not-for-profit organisations in the Isaac region with projects and programs targeting mental health awareness and support are being encouraged to raise their hands for assistance from the Isaac Regional Charity Fund.
Mayor Anne Baker said organisations were invited to apply for the 2018 round of grants to assist with the delivery of worthwhile charitable projects which engaged with residents in the mental health space.
“The aim of Isaac Regional Charity Fund is to distribute monies raised through initiatives such as the annual Mayor’s Charity Ball towards projects which support the residents of the Isaac,” she said.
“2017’s gala ball raised nearly $69,000 for mental health initiatives and we’re looking forward to an even bigger event on 11 August.
“Earlier this year we invested $30,000 to help the Headspace foundation deliver a series of workshops to equip the youth of our region with tools to help combat feelings of anxiety, depression and loneliness.
“It is important that we work together to bring mental health out of the shadows and into the national consciousness. I encourage suitably qualified local organisations to make application for grants from the Fund.”
